AFTER ARREST OF PADILLA-LARGO MEMBERS

THE recent arrests of four members of a notorious gun-for-hire group in Dagupan City and Pangasinan by joint police teams in Baras town, RIzal on June 17 may finally shed light on the identities of persons who ordered them to eliminate their targets, mostly Indian nationals and other persons in the city and elsewhere in Pangasinan.

P/Supt. Jandale Sulit, Dagupan chief of police, said this is the information he hopes to get from the four suspects Rudy Padilla Sr., 73, his son Rudy Jr., both tagged as number 2 and number 3, respectively in the list of most wanted persons in Pangasinan; and the latter’s brothers Michael, 29; and Crisanto, 31, both wanted for murder in Dagupan City in 2015 and earlier.

“We will try to get that once they are here,” said Sulit.

The Padillas, all from Barangay Lucao in Dagupan, are members of the notorious Padilla-Largo guns-for-hire group.

According to Sulit, “Largo” is the surname name of the member of the gang who remains at large with a pending warrant of arrest t issued by the court in Dagupan City.

The police chief said he hopes to get the information soon as they are brought to the city.

The four suspects are still in the custody of the Baras Police since it was there where they were arrested in possession of firearms and ammunition using the warrants issued by the courts in Dagupan.

Rudy Padilla Sr., the alleged leader of the Padilla-Largo group has a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder and Violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation) issued by Regional Trial Court Judge A. Florentino Dumlao of Dagupan City.

Meanwhile, Padilla Jr., has an Alias Warrant of Arrest issued by RTC Judge Mervin Samadan, for violation of RA 10591 and another warrant for Violation of RA 1866 (Illegal possession of firearms) issued by RTC Judge Emma Torio of Dagupan City.

Seized by the police were: one 12-gauge chamber proof-tested shotgun from Rudy Jr., and one Cal. 45 Armscor high cap with a magazine, and 11 ammunition from Crisanto; and one Cal.. 9 mm. Beretta with one magazine and 15 ammunition from Michael.

Involved in the operation called Manhunt Charlie were elements of the 404th A Mobile Company led by P/Sr. Inspector Noel Baysa, Dagupan City Police Station led by P/Inspector Roland Recoco and Baras Police led by police chief P/Sr. Inspector Armando Moises.

Sulit said a concerned citizen tipped off the Baras Police about the presence of four suspicious-looking persons reportedly from Dagupan in the barangay.

Elements of the Baras Police came to Dagupan and validated the information that the four had standing warrants of arrest issued by the local courts.

Sult said he expects the four to be transferred to Dagupan as soon as the courts order their transfer. (Leonardo Micua)
