SINCE the Pangasinan police declared all towns and cities in the province as drug-cleared in January, only 28 have so far been validated by the Regional Oversight Committee headed by the PDEA Regional Office.

This was the update from P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, Police Community Relations Branch (PCRB) chief.

He said only the following towns/cities that have been validated as drug-cleared: Alaminos City, Agno, Laoac, Dasol, Mapandan, San Nicolas, Natividad, Anda, Mabini, Alcala, Malasiqui, Burgos, Sta. Maria, Sison, Binalonan, Aguilar, Bugallon, San Jacinto, Lingayen, Bautista, Binalonan, Bayambang, Mangatarem, Rosales, Labrador, Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, San Manuel, Villasis and Sto. Tomas, as the only drug-free municipality.

The status of the 16 towns and 3 cities remain unclear, namely: Asingan, Pozorrubio, Mangaldan, Sual, Manaoag, San Fabian, Umingan, Bani, Balungao, Infanta, Binmaley, Tayug, Bolinao, Urbiztondo, Basista, San Quintin, Urdaneta City, San Carlos City and Dagupan City.

Meanwhile, after an apparent lull in the anti-drug campaign last month, Florentino said, the Pangasinan Police in tandem with the Drug Enforcement Team (DET) of the local police units and PDEA Regional Office 1, the war on drugs in Pangasinan has shifted to high gear, serving more search warrants and conducting buy-bust operations.

An update released to media showed that from June 2 to June 20, 2018, there were nine operations conducted that resulted in the arrests of:

1. Edmund Paed, an OFW and member of PAED cattling group in Barangay Guelew, San Carlos City from whom two heat sealed sachets of shabu and one caliber 22 were seized.
2. Jinalyn Fabros alias Gina Corpuz, newly identified drug personality, in Barangay Andangin, Mangatarem from whom five sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia were seized through search warrant;
3. Bernard Frialde, alias Sadam, former OFW, from whom one sachet of shabu and P500 marked money were recovered in a buy bust operation in Barangay Nagsaing in Calasiao;
4. Nashroding Mcaindig, alias aka Abdul Usmin, from whom one sachet of shabu and two pieces of P500 marked money were recovered in a buy bust operation in Barangay M.H del Pilar in Bayambang;
5. Eduardo Manantan and Rexel Alcantara for selling one sachet of shabu in a buy bust operation in Barangay Babasit, Manaoag;
6. Joriecar Yamaro, newly identified drug personality, from whom one sachet of shabu and P500 marked money were recovered;
7. Alexander Layog and Mary Anne Villanueva in Barangay Ambonao, Calasiao for selling one sachet of shabu to an undercover police;
8. Frederick Roxas from Sta. Ana Kanan, Pateros Manila for selling one sachet shabu to an undercover police in Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao.
9. Marlon Cruz Balansay alias Banong, in Barangay Patayac in Sta. Barbara from whom a caliber 38 and six sachets of shabu were seized in the implementation of search warrant in his residence. (Nora Dominguez)
