Farmer wounded by armed men riding in tandem

LINGAYEN– A farmer was hospitalized after he was fired upon by armed men riding in tandem on a motorcycle on June 7 at around 6:30 a.m. in Barangay Lasip, Lingayen.

The victim, Marlou De Guzman, 50, sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and was rushed to the Lingayen District Hospital and later transferred to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

Initial investigation showed the victim was at the shoulder of the road preparing to spray chemical on wild grasses beside his farm when armed men on board a motorcycle shot him.

The back rider shot the victim with a Ca. 45 pistol in different parts of his body. The suspects immediately fled towards north direction after the shooting.

The victim was brought to Lingayen District Hospital by his brother-in-law, Bobby Salazar, 55, using his tricycle.

Follow up operation is being conducted to identify the suspects and locate their whereabouts. (Leonardo Micua)
