FOR MANAOAG PAO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

LINGAYEN– The provincial government immediately built six temporary classrooms and provided chairs and tables to the Pao Elementary School (PES) in Manaoag town after a fire hit the school on opening day last week.

The prompt replacement was ordered by Gov. Amado Espino III to prevent any further disruption in the classes of all Grades on account of sudden loss of 6 classrooms.

The fire gutted eight rooms for Grades 4 to 6, the guidance counselor’s office and the library.

The Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) completed the delivery of the classrooms including chairs and tables on June 11, 6 days after the classrooms caught fire. The rooms were also provided with 150 mono-block chairs, 25 rectangular tables and blackboards.

Provincial Engr. Antonieta delos Santos said her office dispatched one engineer and 12 crew members to construct the temporary rooms inside the covered court of the school.

The delivery of the classrooms and equipment enabled the school to regularize class schedules without disrupting other classes owing to necessity of double shifting.

All rooms are now being used by six sections in since June 11.

Fourth District Board Member Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, committee chairman on health and education, disclosed that the governor also pledged to put up three more classrooms to accommodate more pupils.

According to Delos Santos, the work on the 3 additional classrooms will start soon as the space for standard sized classrooms are made available.

“Instead of the standard size of 7×9 meters, we will be having 7×8 meters for each room,” Engr. Delos Santos added.

Christina Camba, PES principal, thanked Gov. Espino for his immediate response and action on their plea for help.  (PIO/SMDG)
