DPWH: Funds for 770 classrooms delayed

EXPECT delays in the delivery of classrooms this year in Pangasinan’s Second and Fourth Districts.

The Department of Public Works and Highways’ 2nd and 4th engineering districts have revealed they failed to receive the funds allocated for the construction of school buildings this year. Reasons for the delays remain unclear.

Newly installed officer-in-charge, District Engineer Editha Manuel, said no funds were released for the completion of construction of classrooms in the two districts.

She said the funds are needed to deliver the scheduled 770 classrooms this year.

Manuel said she is hoping the budget for 2018 will still be released by the second quarter of this year (April-June) to enable them to fast track the construction of classrooms before the rainy season that starts in June. (Nora Dominguez)
