Arenases bring Coco Martin to fans

FULFILLING KABALEYANS’ DREAM

MALASIQUI—Third District Rep. Rose Marie “Baby” Arenas and her daughter, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chair Rachel Arenas, made dreams come true for thousands of their ‘kabaleyans’ by bringing to the local stage Coco Martin, king of Philippine primetime television, on April 29 in Malasiqui, Calasiao, and San Carlos City.

Martin, lead star of the top-rating phenomenal action drama television series  ‘Ang Probinsyano’  which has been running for almost three years now, was mobbed by thousands of his fans from different towns who trooped to San Carlos City to see the award-winning actor in the flesh.

Even the Malasiqui police chief, P/Superintendent Franklin Ortiz, who provided security for the actor, praised Martin in his role as policeman Ricardo “Cardo” Dalisay in the television adaptation of a 1997 film of the same title starred by the late Fernando Poe Jr.

After lunch, the mother and daughter Arenas rode the motorcade with Martin from their farm in Malasiqui to San Carlos City where he was the special guest in the city fiesta celebration led by Mayor Joseres Resuello.

Fans patiently waited for his motorcade and the jampacked crowd at the Arenas Gym in San Carlos City swooned when he serenaded them with five songs.

Cong. Baby, as she is known in her district, pulled out all the stops to give Martin a welcome fit for a king. Accompanied by her son, Roberto and MTRCB Chair Rachel, she hosted a sumptuous lunch for the actor in the Arenas Farm in Malasiqui.

Despite his hectic schedule, the humble and unassuming Martin gamely obliged to have his picture taken with countless fans.

The congresswoman admits that Martin is her personal favorite, not just for his talent as an actor, but “more because of his sincerity, humility, kindness and for his inspiring success story, built on hard work and determination”.

Crowds everywhere went wild seeing Martin on the float. Unmindful of the security concerns for him, Martin went down the stage to interact closer with the audience, and it was madness!

Cong. Baby brought Martin to the nuns of Monastery of the Poor Clares housed inside the Arenas Farm before traveling back to Manila for thanksgiving prayer.

“Coco Martin left us all with our hearts full and our spirits filled with gratitude. And most of all, Cong. Baby and Chair Rachel, once again, proved that they have saved the very best only for their kabaleyans,” Jesusa Macam, a district supervisor at the San Carlos City Schools Division of the Department of Education, one of the big fans of Martin who excitedly and patiently waited for her idol.
