DILG denies corruption in BADAC training

THERE is no misuse of the funds allocated for the training of members of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), according to DILG provincial director Agnes de Leon.

De Leon vehemently denied a charge being circulated through text messages that she was “spending only P500 of the P721 budget” for meal expenses during the training sessions.

She said she only signs the voucher for the payment of meal allowances to caterers recommended by the local office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

De Leon said a total of P230,000 had been allocated by the national government for DILG’s trainings for the BADAC members in 1,369 barangays.

Meanwhile, De Leon joined the regional police office in urging candidates seeking elective posts to take drug tests.

She said the candidates should volunteer to submit to a drug test to prove their sincerity to serve their communities.

At the same time, De Leon also asked the voters to elect candidates who are not involved in any way with the sale, distribution and use of illegal drugs. (Nora Dominguez)
