Another bus stoning incident in Bayambang

BAYAMBANG–Another bus was stoned by unidentified suspects while it was traversing the national road in Barangay Tampog here early evening of Maundy Thursday.

Roger Gundran, 45, Five Star Bus Line inspector and a resident of Brgy. Bical Norte, Bayambang, reported the matter to the Bayambang police through the telephone.

While no one was hurt in the incident, the stone damaged the fourth glass window of the bus on the left side.

Initial investigation showed that the bus, driven by Efren Cadiente, 45, of Naguilayan, San Carlos City with Fernando Caballero, 32, as his conductor, was headed towards the south direction when two unidentified men on board a motorcycle heading in the opposite direction hurled stones at the bus.

Suspects immediately fled to the north direction after the incident

A dragnet operation/Oplan Sita was immediately conducted by the police but they failed to find the suspects.

Policemen are now reviewing the Closed Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) camera in the area to possibly identify the perpetrators or the owner of the motorcycle.

P/Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula, Region 1, police director earlier relieved 10 chiefs of police in Region 1, four of them from Pangasinan, because of the non-stop stoning of buses along the national highways.

This after meeting with owners of bus companies sometime during the first week of March.  (Leonardo Micua)
