Umaani Expo features series of agricultural forum

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The 2nd Umaani Expo in Pangasinan scheduled from March 15 to 23 at the Provincial Nursery in Tebag, Sta. Barbara offers a series of forum to boost the capability of stakeholders of the agriculture industry.

In holding the forum, Provincial Agricuturist Officer-in-Charge Dalisay Moya said Governor Amado I. Espino, III reiterates the need of having the stakeholders in attendance to avail of information materials of the latest trends and modern strategies in agro-industrial farming.”

Experts in various disciplines of agriculture have been invited to share their experiences in modern farming strategies which led to the successful agribusiness ventures.

                  The Umaani Expo, a significant component of the agro-industrial development thrust set by Governor ‘Pogi’ Espino, presents the following agricultural forum this year:

  • Umaani Women’s Agribusiness and Livelihood Forum on March 15 (Opening Program)
  • Livestock Stakeholders’ Forum on March 17 (Agew na Manag-ayep / Livestock Raisers’ Day)
  • Technical Forum on High Value Crops, Corn and Tobacco, and Business Financing Forum for Cacao, Coffee, and Dragon Fruit on March 19 (Agew na Umaanid Tanaman / High Value Crops Farmers’ Day)
  • Fishery Stakeholders’ Forum on March 20 (Agew na Umaaniy Sira / Fisherfolk Day)

Likewise, the Irrigators Associations’ Congress on March 16 (Agew na Umaaniy Pagey / Rice Farmers’ Day) and the Agricultural Extension Workers Congress on March 21 (Agew na Umaani Extension Workers / Agricultural Extension Workers Day) are also presented as avenues to upgrade the capabilities of the stakeholders in their respective disciplines.

The Umaani Expo conceptualized by Governor Espino, aside from being a celebration of the riches of agriculture in Pangasinan, is a gesture to recognize the significant roles of stakeholders of the agriculture sector in strengthening the agricultural development thrust of the provincial government.  /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
