Tanod nabbed for guns, drugs

SAN CARLOS CITY—A barangay tanod was arrested after two search warrants were served at his residence in Barangay Magtaking in the city early morning last Tuesday, March 6.

Arrested, for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and the other is for violation of RA 9165 (the anti-drugs law) was Benjamin Miranda, 59.

The search warrants served by the police were issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Jaime Dojillo of Branch 57 in San Carlos City.

Seized by the police from the suspect’s house were one Smith and Wesson Cal. 38 revolver without a serial number, with bullets in its cylinder, another two bullets for Cal. 45 pistol and one bullet for 12-gauge shot gun.

Also, seized from his house were five-heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. (Leonardo Micua)
