BALUNGAO— This year’s thrill-seeking visitors at Balungao Hilltop Adventure are assured of more fun after new extreme activities were introduced on March 18 that will expectedly draw more tourists especially this summer.

Mayor Philipp Peralta said skybike, rappelling and wall climbing are among the newest activities designed to attract and offer exciting time to adventurous guests.

A third zipline for the kids seven years and below with a length of more than 100 meters will be constructed soon to complement the existing two ziplines: the 1.4-kilometer long (considered the longest in the Philippines), and the 620-meter long.

The 1.4-km long zipline starts from a hilltop, stretches through farms and patches of old trees and ends at a resort at the foot of Mt. Balungao. The rider of zipline can see view of villages, extinct Mt. Balungao, and flowing hot and cold spring.

Peralta said soon to be built also is a small water impounding project (SWIP) that will not only provide irrigation to farmlands in three barangays, namely San Aurelio I, San Aurelio II and part of Pugaro but also water sports activities at the Balungao Hilltop Adventures including a banana boat ride.

There are presently four swimming pools with water coming from Balungao cold and hot spring with varying temperatures.

“It’s a continuous improvement especially for our guests who want to experience something new that will make them come back,” Peralta said.

He said the P16-million to P18-million revenue the resort earns from entrance fees and use of the facilities are funneled back for construction or improvement of the facilities.

He said the town has no problem attracting more visitors each year but accommodating them for overnight stay still poses a problem since there only nine rooms available in the resort.

Instead, visitors are encouraged to camp out particularly for groups organized for team-building activities, he added.

A three-storey function room funded by Abono party-list through Rep. Conrad Estrella is already being constructed, the mayor said.

Aside from its swimming pools and the zipline experience, all-terrain vehicle driving, bungee trampoline, hiking or trail walking, trust fall, and mountain biking perfect for family bonding or barkada outings are available.
