Gov. Pogi tells kid farmers: ‘You are the future of P’sinan’

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — “Ang kinabukasan ng probinsya ay nakasalalay sa inyong kinabukasan.”

This was addressed by Governor Amado I. Espino, III during the Agew na Saray Ogugaw of the 2nd Pangasinan Umaani Expo 2018 participated in by about 600 pupils and students on March 22.

“Ang pagod at sakripisyo namin ay preparasyon para sa inyong magandang kinabukasan, Gov. Pogi added noting that the kid farmers are the hope of the province of Pangasinan.

As a leader and a farmer, Gov. Pogi exhorted the kid farmers to harness what they learned from today’s activities which solely highlight farming and agriculture.

He also bared that the ‘Pasyar ed Uma’ (farm tour) with the free kalesa ride intends to showcase the old machineries and techniques used by the farmers in the province of Pangasinan.

The farm tour routes include: Provincial Agriculture Office Booth which stresses the rice and corn sectors; Bahay Kubo Edible Landscape which features vegetable products of the province; Fishyalan Village which promotes the fishing gears and paraphernalias; Livestock Booth which is stuffed with farm animals; and Abong na Nanduruman Uusaren Na Dumaralos nen Saman which reminisces the lifestyle of farmers.

Four ‘SANGKA’ contests were also mounted to test the cooking prowess of the youngsters.

Winners are: Anjhenica Mae C. Buscas and Charmelle B. Arenas (Pangasinan I Schools Division) — SANGKA-maongan ya manlutoy belas; Shavie Mae Javier and Martin Chad L. Soriano (Pangasinan II Schools Division) —SANGKA-maongan ya manlutoy pinakbet; Christian S. Veloria and Rio E. Cabanlog (Pangasinan II Schools Division) — SANGKA-maongan ya manlinis ya tilapia; and Froilan B. Marcos and Danzel Adam A. Piol (Alaminos City Division) — SANGKAmaongan ya mankalot na tilapia.

Before the opening program, the participants also simultaneously gulped down pasteurized carabao’s milk accentuating the ‘Gatas Kalabas Parad Ogugaw’ activity of the event.

The Dragon Titans Sandals awarded 1000 slippers to the participants at the end of the program.

Also present to back today’s activities were: Dr. Sheila Marie Primicias, San Carlos City Schools Division Superintendent; Dr. Gloria R. Torres, Urdaneta City Schools Division Superintendent; and Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman. /Shiella Mae C. De Guzman
