WAR ON DRUGS SCORECARD

THE regional oversight committee, led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, for the war on drugs in Region 1 has officially declared 21 towns and one city of Pangasinan as drug-free.

P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, confirmed PDEA’s report as of March 2, 2018.

Declared drug-free so far are the municipalities of Agno, Aguilar, Alcala, Anda, Bautista, Bugallon, Burgos, Dasol, Laoac, Lingayen, Mabini, Malasiqui, Mapandan, Natividad, San Jacinto, San Nicolas, Sison, Sta. Maria, and the City of Alaminos.

Sto. Tomas is the only town unaffected from the very beginning.

PDEA Provincial Officer Dexter Asayco confirmed that Mangatarem is scheduled for the declaration as drug free municipality on March 8, Bayambang on March 9, and Rosales to follow.

Meanwhile, the towns already declared drug-free but where drug personalities were recently arrested in police operations risk losing their status if the police stations fail to undertake required interdictions after one month. (Nora Dominguez)
