Three suspected guns-for-hire arrested in Umingan
THREE suspected members of a gun-for-hire gang men were arrested in simultaneous raids in Umingan town early morning last Tuesday, February 6.
Arrested with the simultaneous implementation of search warrants number 145 to 148 issued by Tayug Judge Emma S. Ines – Parajas of the RTC Branch 52 were Rudy delos Santos Lataoan Jr., 38 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Barangay La Paz; Jimmy Sales Ormita, 45 years old, married, farmer, also a resident of Barangay La Paz; and Bobby Vallejos Urmasa, 52 years old, married, sales marketing personnel and a resident of San Leon. All are residents of Umingan.
Lataoan was arrested in possession of one caliber 45 colt, with seven live ammunitions and one magazine, while Ormita was caught with one cal. 9 mm without serial number and assorted ammunition and magazine, and seized from Urmasa were one caliber 30 carbine one 9mm with magazine, one airsoft, 9mm pistol with magazine and live ammunition.
The search at the house of Ricardo Valera yielded negative.
P/ Chief Inspector Jose Abaya II, Umingan chief of police, said the four warrants were for reported possession of unregistered firearms.
The raids were conducted by joint personnel of Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Investigation Division of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, Umingan Police Station and Provincial Mobile Force Company Tayug,
Meanwhile, Abaya said the four will be investigated further for their alleged involvement in gun-for-hire activities.
The confiscated firearms will undergo ballistic examination to verify if the guns were used in past crimes.
Abaya said the action taken against the suspects should be a wake up call to other residents who keep illegal firearms because the PNP is dead serious in it’s campaign to locate all the loose firearms.
Cases of violation of the Republic Act 10591 or known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation were filed against Lantaoan, Ormita and Urmasa (Nora Dominguez)
