Six arrested for drugs, guns, ammos

ROSALES—The firing of his gun indiscriminately led policemen to the businessman’s house in Barangay Coliling, Rosales in the morning of Jan. 30 that resulted in his arrest and five other persons when 30 firearms, live ammunition and illegal drugs were found in the house.

Hearing the gun bursts, the police quickly applied for search warrant in the house of the suspect Domingo Ortega, alias “Onyok” and “Dominador”, 36, a businessman of Barangay Maimpis, San Fernando, Pampanga.

Five other persons found in the premises at the time of the raid were identified as Ortega’s siblings Lorence, 30; and Sandy, 24 of Barangay San Francisco, Mabalacat, and Maimpis, San Fernando City, respectively; Hemlar Paulino, 24, a tattoo artist of Angeles City; Jemar Aradanas, 19; of Barangay Coliling, Rosales and Fernando Mallare, 45, of Barangay Maimpis, San Fernando City, alleged visitors of Ortega.

Seized were one backpack containing one empty magazine of cal. 45 pistol, two handcuffs and an inside holster of cal. 45 pistol; one multi-colored handbag containing a box with 24 pieces of live ammunition for cal. 22 magnum and another box containing 50 pieces of cal. 22 magnum ammunition.

Also seized was a black sling bag that had cal. 99mm. pistol with one magazine that had six live ammunition; and one cal. 9mm magazine containing eight live ammunition.

Another black pouch was seized containing 18 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, one opened transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu residue, four empty transparent plastic sachets to be used for repacking shabu, four cut aluminum foils, two scissors, two triple AAA batteries for digital weighing scale, one deformed lighter, one digital weighing scale; 31 live ammunition of Cal. 9mm pistol that were covered with pillow; one fired cartridge shell of Cal. 9mm pistol; one Samsung cellphone; one Calypso plastic containing transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu residue; one gray sling bag containing Php138,000.00; one bundle cash money amounting to P59,000.00; one orange pouch with coins of different denominations amounting to P208.50, two deposit slips, three remittance receipts, one Cal. 45 Colt pistol with inserted magazine containing three live ammunition; and assorted drug paraphernalia;

All suspects were charged with violations of Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and RA 9165 (possession of illegal drugs).

The raid was conducted by elements of the Regional Anti-Drug Enforcement Unit of Police Regional Office 1, Rosales police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Region 1.

The seized firearms and ammunition will be subjected to ballistic examinations to determine if they were used in other crimes. (Leonardo Micua)
