Seven die from gastroenteritis

THE Pangasinan Provincial Health Office has recorded a total of 942 cases of acute gastroenteritis in the province. Seven have died.

Based on the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the PHO, the reported cases were from January 1 to February 19, 2018.

Dr. Anna Maria Theresa De Guzman, provincial health officer, noted that most of the victims or 455 cases of acute gastroenteritis were aged one year below up to four years old.

The ten towns and cities that are under watch for having registered the highest cases of acute gastroenteritis are: Bayambang, Calasiao, San Carlos City, Sta. Barbara, Malasiqui, Lingayen, Umingan, Mangaldan, Binmaley and Alaminos City.

PHO advised the public to boil drinking water and practice cleanliness in preparing food to avoid contamination. (Nora Dominguez)
