SAN FABIAN—Four sand and gravel quarry operators in San Fabian were suspended by the provincial government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) based in Dagupan.

A memorandum sent by DENR to the Sangguniang Bayan of San Fabian identified the four quarry operators whose permits have long expired.

The four suspended quarry operators are Melchor Parayno, Josefino de Guzman, Marlon Eleria and Joegina Aspurias.

“The quarrying operations along Binday Dam is not, however, suspended,” clarified Renato Rimando of the DENR in a report to DENR OIC Regional Director Carlos Tayag.

Rimando added the permits issued to the quarry operators in 2012 are no longer valid as these have already expired.

The permits issued by DENR are renewable every five years. (Calista Juguilon, CdD)
