PDEA certifies 19 towns, 1 city as drug-free

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), as head of the regional oversight committee, recently declared Lingayen as the 19th drug free town in Pangasinan.

Last February 21, PDEA Region 1 Director Brian Babang led the signing and declaration of drug cleared municipality witnessed by DILG Regional Director James Fadrilan, PNP Provincial Director Ronald Lee, Mayor Josefina Castañeda, Lingayen police chief, Superintendent Fidel Junio, barangay officials of 32 barangays and the 336 drug reformists.

In his presentation of anti-narcotics and status of the Community-based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP), Junio said that out of 336 drug personalities who surrendered to the local police, 334 have completed the CBRP conducted in all the barangays with the assistance of the MHU, Barangay Officials, TESDA and Lingayen Police; two were identified by the Municipal Health Office as medium risks and underwent rehabilitation at the Training and Rehabilitation Center in Dagupan City.

The Lingayen government has allocated P1 million fund to sustain the illegal drug campaign this year.

Earlier declared by the PDEA RO1 as drug cleared were Laoac, Agno, Anda, Dasol, Burgos, Mabini, Natividad, San Nicolas, Alcala, Malasiqui, Sta. Maria, Mapandan, Sison, Alaminos City, Sto. Tomas, Aguilar, Bugallon and San Jacinto, and by February 24, the town of Bautista is also scheduled for check up. (Nora Dominguez)
