TO enlighten employers and workers on the new wage order, a wage orientation was conducted in Dagupan City by the Department of Labor and employment (DOLE) in Dagupan City last February 5.

The wage orientation and employees’ compensation program, headed by DOLE Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, was attended by employers and workers of different private companies and offices in Pangasinan.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Lacambra said the activity was the first of a series of seminars in in Region 1, including La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

He said the wage order No. RB1-19 or the daily minimum wage rates of workers and employees in Region 1 which was made effective January 25 this year mandated all employers to provide an additional P13 wage increase to their workers.

Lacambra said the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board No. 1 will penalize employers that will violate the new wage order by doubling the wage increase.

Based on the new minimum wage rates, all workers or employees in large non-agriculture and commercial fishing establishments receiving P280.00 under wage order no. RB1-18 will receive an increase of P30.00 per day; for workers receiving under P265.00 will receive an increase of P20.00 per day, for workers in small establishments, micro establishments, agriculture plantation and agriculture non-plantation, an increase of thirteen pesos per day.
