MANGALDAN – The use of solar energy in Pangasinan is expected to gain acceptance with the series of orientation being conducted by the Solar Homes Inc, (SHI) in partnership with Solar Philippines, the nation’s number one solar provider.

The town’s Sangguniang Bayan had its briefing last week .

In a bid to achieve its goal of putting up solar panels on every rooftop in the Philippines, SHI said its mission and vision is to shape the regulatory environment to promote the growing market opportunity for solar in the Philippines, to ensure that solar energy is the leading contributor to Philippines energy system, and enhance business opportunities for solar power in the country.

Larry Lubay, SHI architect, explained the different systems and benefits that can be derived from the use of solar panels particularly the grid system, off-grid system and net metering.

Pag meron kang sariling solar panel, parang may sarili ka na ring source ng kuryente” said Lubay.

SHI expects to brief other municipal councils in Pangasinan. An orientation was already held in Laoac and Dagupan City.

Lubay cite places in the Philippines that already installed solar panels, namely, Biñan Central Mall in Laguna (700 kWP), SM North EDSA (1.5 mWp), Robinsons Place Palawan (1.2 mWp), Robinsons Place Dumaguete (1.5 mWp), SM Mall of Asia (2.6 mWp) and Industrial/Manufaturing (360 kWp).

Today’s solar panels, he said, are made of the highest quality materials that can last over 25 years and are made in the Solar Philippines Factory in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

He added use of solar panels are ideal for schools, hospitals, poultries, resorts, and malls. (Jaivan Clyde Carino, CdD)
