SUAL— Grade 6 students of Sual Central School will no longer have to put up with leaky roofs, broken windows, dilapidated blackboards, and rickety armchairs.

Their classes are now held inside the newly constructed school building built through the partnership between TeaM Energy Foundation, Inc. (TEFI) and Philam Foundation.

The one-storey school building completed last month, has two fully-furnished classrooms with brand new blackboards, chairs, electric fans, and lighting equipment. The new classrooms also have a restroom with water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.

“TeaM Energy has identified education as one of our priority areas where we can work hand-in-hand with the Sual local government in improving socio-economic conditions in the municipality,” said Ricky De Castro, TEFI executive director.

He said these classrooms were built in cooperation with Sual Mayor Roberto Ll. Arcinue.

The P2-million school building was constructed under TEFI’s Project SiKap (Silid-aralan para saKatuparan ng mga Pangarap) and Philam Foundation’s Philam Paaralan. Both foundations provided a donation of P1-million each for the construction of the school building.

TeaM Energy Foundation, Inc. is the social development arm of TeaM Energy Corporation, a partnership between two noted Japanese firms, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and Marubeni Corporation. (Eva Visperas)
