Museu de Mangaldan inaugurated

MANGALDAN– The town’s Museu de Mangaldan, a heritage and museum Center, was finally inaugurated on January 5 by Mayor Bonafe de Vera-Parayno and Vice Mayor Jojo Surdilla.

The Museu de Mangaldan will be the depository of artifacts and works of arts of sons and daughters of the town.

The inauguration, which also marked the soft opening of the museum, was attended by members of Sangguniang Bayan, officials of the Department of Education, and the town’s different departments.

Butch Torio has been appointed the person-in-charge of the Museo.

“We will ask help from the University of the Philippines-Baguio to know what are the things that we should put in the museum and more importantly on how to manage it,” said Planning and Development Coordinator Milagros Padilla.

“We will make the museum as a joint undertaking by our municipality and UP Baguio,” Padilla continued.

“Hindi kasi basta-basta at hindi biro ang pagpapatayo ng isang Museo,” she added.

Museo de Mangaldan is expected to have its grand opening before or during the coming town fiesta of Mangaldan in March.

The town fiesta, said Mayor Parayno, will showcase music, food, artifacts, including the native dried carabeff.

One of the top features of the town fiesta is the Pindang Festival, which will showcase the dried carabeef, the one town-one product of Mangaldan.

Also recently inaugurated by Parayno were the newly reconstructed and rehabilitated Mangaldan Abattoir and the Rural Health Units. (CdD_Jaivan Cariño)
