MAYOR Belen Fernandez played Santa Claus anew when she distributed gifts to more than 50 children at the Health Center of Barangay Bonuan Binloc – Sitio Korea on December 29.

The gift-giving was made possible through the close partnership between the city government and Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish Youth Choir, and youth choirs from St. John Cathedral Church.

The mayor supported the group’s chosen recipients, saying: “I’m very happy that the youth of the Church came out with a program for the children. I’m very happy that they selected Sitio Korea.”

Mayor Fernandez revealed that Sitio Korea is also one of the priorities of the city government, having introduced various improvements in the area including a health center, a daycare center, and core houses for families living in the dump sites.

Durng the program, the mayor informed the parents in the barangay about the free mobile late registration program called “Lehitimo Ako, Batang Dagupeno” that allows parents the opportunity to legitimize their children born out of wedlock.

She urged the parents to coordinate with their local barangay officials to learn more about the program and on how to participate. (Marie Verdelle Jenica M. De Vera/CIO)
