Four barangays adjudged outstanding

BARANGAYS Caranglaan, Barangay IV, Tebeng and Carael were adjudged as the Most Outstanding Barangays, the first ever search undertaken in the city, during the Barangay Night at the city plaza on December 27.
The four barangays were awarded trophies and a brand new multi-cab each for winning the search.
The outstanding barangays were rated based on barangay administration (maintenance of barangay hall and barangay office and records keeping), barangay operations (especially on crime prevention), functionality of Lupong Barangay, efficiency in performance, implementation of financial administration, project plans, and disaster emergency equipment.
In addition, a group of individuals unknown to the barangays also conducted a confidential survey to validate the findings of the evaluators.
Barangay Carael obtained a total of 88.72 points, topping other barangays belonging to cluster D like Salapingao, Pugaro, Lomboy, and Calmay.
Tebeng topped the search among barangays belonging to cluster C, composed of barangays Bacayao Sur, Bacayao Norte, Salisay, Mangin, Mamalingling, Lasip Chico, Lasip Grande and Pogo Grande, with 81.50 rating.
Barangay IV earned the highest rating among barangays in Cluster B composed of Barangays I, II and III, Poblacion Oeste, Pogo Chico, Herrero-Perez, Bolosan and Tambac with 83.87 points.
Barangay Caranglaan was given a high rating of 93.13 in cluster A composed of barangays Barangays Pantal, Mayombo, Tapuac, Malued, Lucao, Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Binloc and Bonuan Boquig.
The first runners up in their respective clusters were barangays Malued, Pogo-Chico, Bacayao Sur and Pugaro; while the second runners up were barangays Pantal, Herrero-Perez, Pogo Grande and Lomboy.
Each of the first runners up received brand new generator set and the second runners up received a new chainsaw each.
All the 31 barangays were evaluated by an independent body coming from the business sector, faith-based organizations, education, Kapisanan ng mga Broadkasters sa Pilipinas and non-government organizations.
Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, Rep. Christopher de Venecia and members of the city’s Peace and Advisory Council who facilitated the project along with Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo, chairman, Committee on Peace and Order, expressed hope that the first search for Most Outstanding Barangays will inspire other barangays to strive more in meeting the standards set by the council and the Philippine National Police through the city’s chief of police P/Supt. Franklin O. Ortiz.
