MAYOR Belen Fernandez and the Lyceum-Northwestern University College of Dentistry signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the conduct of the city’s Smile Dagupan Program and the university’s Adopt-A-School Program.

The memorandum of agreement will enable the L-NU College of Dentistry to operate under the umbrella of the SMILE Dagupan Program and promote its practices.

The Smile Dagupan Program is a series of dental missions conducted by the City Health Office (CHO) Dental Division, headed by Dr. Jude Veramor De Vera.

The pupils of Malued Elementary School are joined by Mayor Fernandez, Education Program Supervisor Venus Estonillo, Malued Bounong Barangay Filipina delos Santos, Dr. Cheryl Roman, CHO Dental Division Head Dr. Jude Veramor de Vera, LNU Dean Dr. Evangeline Padlan and Michelle Soriano

Smile Dagupan regularly visits the far-flung barangays in the city and provides free dental health services such as dental check-up, consultation, lectures, tooth-brushing drills, oral prophylaxis, tooth extraction, sealants, and fluoride treatment.

Meanwhile, the university will also provide dental services to Malued Elementary School and provide lessons to prevent the onset of oral problems that could distract the children from studying.

The program will start in February in time with the National Children’s Dental Health Month and will be conducted every Friday for five years.

The Smile Dagupan Program is under the “Alagang Balon Dagupan”, Mayor Belen Fernandez’s health initiative that focuses on the health and betterment of the lives of every Dagupeño and their families. (Marie Verdelle Jenica De Vera/CIO)
