DEATH THREAT

BINMALEY—“Someone is out to silence me.”

Thus said Mayor Simplicio Rosario during a press conference on January 23 as he exposed a threat on his life.

He added, “Someone out there is dead serious… so desperate to hide the truth in exchange for our lives.”

He said he made the move to reveal what he has been keeping only to himself until on Dec. 4 when two suspicious-looking men were caught on the municipal government’s closed circuit television camera.

He said he knows of no enemies in his business, no love interest other than his wife, but he suspects politics has something to do with the threat on his life.

Rosario said the mastermind reportedly offered P1-million to the hired killers who turned around and revealed the plan to have him liquidated.

He said he already reported the matter to the police, copy of the police blotter was furnished reporters.

Rosario said an anti-graft case filed before the Sandiganbayan by his close aide against a former town official may have something to do with the plan to eliminate him. He did not mention the name of the official involved.

He said the complainant in the anti-graft case has also been seeing unidentified men roaming around her house.

At least two persons also approached him to intervene and withdraw the complaint.

“I want to make this clear. I’m not singling them out. I’m not connecting this to them but I personally know the mastermind,” he said.

“If they are after my life, so be it. God is with me,” he added.

He appealed to the mastermind, “If you have a case, face it… I know you go to Church, please pray and spare me in your plan.” (Eva Visperas)
