CALASIAO—A policeman who went AWOL (Absent Without Leave) was shot dead in front of the Pangasinan Coliseum in Barangay San Miguel at around 12:30 p.m. on January 7.
The victim was identified as Julius Canilang Rosales, assigned at Sigay Police Station in Ilocos Sur but a resident of Libsong West, Lingayen.
He was standing in front of the cockpit when he was shot by two or more suspects in the head and body.
The suspects fled after the shooting.
Rosales was rushed by responding policemen to the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan where he was declared dead on arrival.
Investigators recovered from the crime scene five cartridges of 5.56 Armalite rifle, three fired cartridges of Caliber .45 pistol and two deformed slugs of still unknown firearm, indicating that there were two or more gunmen who shot Rosales.
Recovered from the body of the victim were P3,000 cash and a mobile phone.
Investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive and identities of the suspects. (CdD_Dana Siapno)
