UL Tigers join 25th NCRAA, Dec. 5

NEWCOMER University of Luzon’s Golden Tigers will test its mettle against Asian Institute of Maritime Studies of Pasay City on December 5 for the second game of the 25th season of the National Capital Region Athletic Association at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

In the main game at 2:00 PM, another newcomer AMA University will be pitted against Philippine Merchant Marine School. The Titans will enter the NCRAA loaded with PBA D-League veterans led by Andre Paras against the Mariners, the league’s champion from two season ago.

There are 16 schools participating and are divided into two groups of eight. AIMS and UL will be in Group A together with De Ocampo Memorial College, Olivarez College, Philippine School of Business Administration-Quezon City, Saint Francis of Assisi College, Technological Institute of the Philippines and New Era University.

The teams will play a single round amongst themselves for seven games each with the top four in each group advancing to the knockout crossover quarterfinals. Both the semifinal and championship series will be best of three affairs. (Jesus Garcia Jr.)
