LINGAYEN– The Pangasinan Provincial Library (PPL) won second place in the national search outstanding public libraries with special programs on the protection and preservation of cultural heritage – the third national award earned by the provincial library.

PPL has a ‘Pangasinana section’ where materials, documents and displays about local history of Pangasinan are kept and well-preserved.

“It is really important for public libraries to have a section intended to house all documents and pieces regarding local history because that’s what a library is meant to do,” Vila said.

In 2013, PPL was recognized as Outstanding Library for its Children Services.

Expanding its online services, the provincial library in July last year, launched Tech4Ed, making it as among the pilot cyber-education hubs in the country. (PIO/MGNO)
