WAR ON DRUGS

LINGAYEN – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) expressed confidence that the recent order of President Duterte to recall the Philippine National Police (PNP) back to the war on drugs will make the campaign to make Pangasinan drug-free easier.

P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, PPPO’s Police Community Relations chief, said the task to eradicate illegal drugs will be less complicated with the PNP back on track to help Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as lead agency, and other concerned agencies in the war on drugs.

Meanwhile, Florentino said the Pangasinan police never stopped in monitoring and reporting activities of drug personalities to PDEA the whole time PNP was pulled out from active participation in the campaign against illegal drugs.

He denied any resurgence of the illegal drugs trade in the province because of the stringent measures adopted in monitoring activities of all the drug personalities that surrendered and completed the community-based rehabilitation program.

He maintained they were also under the close watch of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) and the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC).

Florentino said a sustainable programs on drug clearing was institutionalized with help from BADAC and MADAC on the ground, particularly, to monitor activities of the reformed drug users and pushers.

The Pangasinan police is hoping that the remaining drug affected Barangays (Tandoc and Balite Sur both of San Carlos City and Aramal of San Fabian) will be cleared in the weeks ahead to make all the 1,271 Barangays 44 municipalities and 4 cities cleared of illegal drugs, subject to PDEA’s validation.
