Bloggers briefed on ASEAN, FOI

DAGUPAN CITY — As technology advances, so does information.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) recently hosted a briefing for the Pangasinan Bloggers on the significance of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Freedom of Information as directed by the government to the province.

PIA Regional Director Jennilyne Role had appealed to bloggers and information officers to help create appreciation for ASEAN and the benefits of the FOI.

“Bloggers have a huge influence on the society…they also have a variation of audience from different generations,” Vangie Padilla, founder of the Pangasinan Bloggers, said whose group has 50 members.

The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) also presented the Regional Development Plan (RDP).

Vida Karna Bacani, NEDA supervising economic specialist of NEDA stressed that both the PDP and the RDP “are the people’s plan, not a plan for the President, not for NEDA. Its emphasis is a plan for the people of the region and of the Philippines

Miriam Aquino of the PIA-Region I pointed out that the executive order on FOI issued by President Duterte’s was intended action to give everyone to access information on any activity of the government.

Aquino clarified that a person who requests for an information must submit a request letter citing the purpose of the information he wanted to get. After submitting a valid identification card, an agency is given 15 working days to process the request depending on the analysis of the requester’s purpose. (PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
