9th P’sinan Open Chess Tourney, Dec. 9-10

LINGAYEN– The 9th ‘Governor Amado Espino Cup’ Pangasinan Open Chess Tournament, the last and the toughest chess tournament of the 2017 Pangasinan Chess Festival (PCF), kicked off last Saturday, December 9 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC).

​Hundreds of rated and non-rated chess players from Pangasinan and other provinces and cities in the country registered for the open and 14-year-old and below categories of the chess tournament.

Held annually in partnership with the Pangasinan Chess League (PCL), the PCF is composed of Chess Federation of the Philippines – sanctioned chess clinics which are conducted every September, and three consecutive chess tournaments, namely: Pangasinan Age Group Chess Championship staged every October, Pangasinan Chess Championship held every November and the Pangasinan Open Chess Tournament slated every December.

​The PCF was launched under the administration of former Gov. and now 5th District Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr., and is being continued by Governor Amado ‘Pogi’ I. Espino, III. (PIO)
