No serious threat from NPA despite sightings in boundaries

THE 702nd Infantry Brigade based in Manaoag assured the security of the public despite sightings of the New People’s Army in the boundaries of Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales.

Col. Henry Robinson, commander of the 702nd Infantry Brigade, gave the assurance in an exclusive interview with the PUNCH, even as he confirmed that his troops monitored movements of NPA elements in San Nicolas, Umingan and Natividad in the east and Infanta in the west.

Robinson said, military operations are focused along the boundaries of Pangasinan to prevent NPA from gaining foothold in any of the towns and deter recruitment activities.

A security committee composed of Pangasinan PNP and military forces for an effective coordination in patrol activities particularly in the mountainous areas of the communities.

Meanwhile, army troops are already deployed in different detachment areas Dasol, Mabini, Infanta, San Nicolas, Tayug, Natividad, Umingan in Pangasinan.

Robinson said the government has also intensified it’s Comprehensive Localized Education Program (CLIP) that encourages rebels to rejoin the government. (Nora Dominguez)
