FOR three years in a row, Dagupan City under the leadership of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez will again receive the 2017 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

This was gleaned from the 2017 SGLG Awardees’ list released by the DILG on November 8 showing that Dagupan City is one of the eight cities (and three provinces, 57 municipalities) in Region 1 that will receive the coveted award.

There were 448 LGUs nationwide that met the 2017 SGLG awards criteria.

DILG City Director Rhoderick Dawis conveyed his congratulatory message to Mayor Fernandez and the people of Dagupan for winning the coveted SGLG award anew.

The award means that Dagupan has met all the criteria set by the DILG in the fields of financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and tourism, culture and the arts.

Under Mayor Fernandez, Dagupan City has received numerous national and regional awards and recognition, including the Seal of Child-Friendly City, National Competitiveness Index, among others.

DILG CITY Director Dawis said the awards ceremony for the 2017 SGLG awardees is set November 25 at the Manila Hotel. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
