CADAC declares Brgy Pugaro drug-cleared

THE island barangay of Pugaro in Dagupan City was declared drug-cleared Friday by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council chaired by Mayor Belen Fernandez.

P/Superintendent Franklin Ortiz said Pugaro is the 30th barangay declared as drug-cleared as of Nov. 10.

He said it took sometime before the clearance was made due to the presence of a high-value target named Eric Garcia in the said barangay.

Ortiz said Garcia is in drug watch-list of President Duterte.

Garcia had not returned to the barangay for sometime and has evidently transferred residence to an unknown area, Ortiz added.

His house was raided earlier by police operatives that yielded shabu and firearms but he was not around, Ortiz added.

Meanwhile, Ortiz said only Barangay II and III remains to be cleared.

He said he is optimistic the drug clearing operations will be completed with the arrest of drug pushers and users in the area before end of November.

As of last count, Dagupan has 1,315 self-confessed drug users and pushers, Ortiz said. (Eva Visperas)
