Villasis wins Prov’l Tourism Quiz-Wiz

LINGAYEN — “Do not forget who you are and do not forget where you came from.”

This was stressed by Governor Amado Espino III in his speech during the 2nd Provincial Tourism Quiz-Wiz held at Sison Auditorium, here, on September 25 that was won by Villasis entries.

Richmond C. Racuya and Jet R. Toralba, from Don Ramon E. Costales Memorial National High School who represented LGU Villasis, bagged the championship among the twenty-six teams from various municipalities and cities of Pangasinan.

Marivic C. Rodolfo and Cristine J. Nora, from Bacnit Integrated School who represented LGU Mabini, won as 1st Runner-up and Hana Clariza O. Eugenio and Lander Ace D. Altatez, from Mangatarem National High School who represented LGU Mangatarem, placed 2nd Runner-up.

The Provincial Tourism Quiz-Wiz, dubbed as ‘Talisiw tan Turismo na Saray Kalangweran, highlighted the celebration of Pangasinan Tourism Month 2017, which centers on the theme: “Sustainable Tourism: a Tool for Development.”

Espino also stressed the essence of the quiz-wiz – to showcase the youth’s wisdom and love for Pangasinan’s history, cultures and traditions.

“We are all here not only to compete, but, we are here to show our love for Pangasinan not only today but in the becoming days and years,” the governor added.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim encouraged the participants, whom he also referred to as ‘Millennials,’ to help preserve the history of Pangasinan.

According to PTCAO Officer Malu Elduayan, the event was aimed at encouraging Pangasinenses to rediscover and be proud of their rich history, traditions, culture and arts, and tourism. (PIO/SMDG)
