Pista’y Dayat gets 4th Pearl Award​

LINGAYEN– The provincial government recently received the Pearl Award anew from the Department of Tourism and Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines (ATOP), its fourth since 2014.

The award was in recognition of the province’s “Pista’y Dayat” (Sea Festival), which was adjudged as the country’s third best tourism, event in the provincial category.

It was also the second runner-up in 2016 and 2014 and first runner-up in 2015.

Pearl Awards is ATOP-DOT’s Best Tourism Practices of the Philippines Awards.

Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Malu Elduayan and her staff received the award during the 18th ATOP National Convention from Oct. 4 to 7 in Iloilo City from DOT Region 6 Director Helen Catalbas and ATOP Executive Vice President Josh Granada-Gutierrez during the ATOP-DOT Pearl Awards Night at the Iloilo City Convention Center.

The Pearl Award was presented to Gov. Amado Espino III during the flag-raising ceremony at the Capitol Plaza on Monday.

In an interview, Elduayan attributed the success of the “Pista’y Dayat” as a tourism event to the sustained tourism and cultural development thrust of the provincial government, (Leonardo Micua)
