Pangasinan in strong 3rd position

LINGAYEN—At presstime, Oct. 27, Team Pangasinan is secure in third place in medal standing in the Batang Pinoy 2017 Luzon Qualifying Leg in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, and still gunning to overtake Laguna province for a possible second place.

Team Pangasinan has so far harvested 19 gold, 12 silvers and 15 bronzes.

Competition started on October 21 and was to conclude Oct. 27 today (presstime).

Leading the pack based on the tally tally board is Baguio City followed by Laguna province in second place.

Pangasinan is followed by San Jose City in fourth place and Dasmarinas City in fifth place.

The competition initiated by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee, seeks to discover fresh talents from the countryside who can be trained for international competitions.

As of t 4:30 p.m. on October 26, Pangasinan garnered one gold and two bronzes in archery, one gold, one silver and one bronze in athletics (girls), four silvers and two bronzes in athletics (boys), four golds, two silvers and two bronzes in karatedo, one silver in lawn tennis (girls), one gold in lawn tennis (boys), one silver in sepak takraw (girls), one gold, three silvers in sepak takraw (boys), one gold, three bronzes in table tennis (girls), and three golds, one bronze in table tennis (boys).

Team Pangasinan also emerged champion in basketball for boys and girls in the team events.

Team Pangasinan fielded a total of 222 athletes to the Luzon Qualifying Leg, eight of whom saw action in archery, 25 in arnis, 28 in athletics, 8 in badminton, 29 in basketball, nine in boxing, 12 in chess, 15 in karatedo, eight in lawn tennis, 10 in sepak takraw, 20 in swimming, six in table tennis, 20 in taekwondo-20, and 24 in volleyball (indoor).
