BOTH the town’s public officials and police are confident that Labrador will earn the validation of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to be cleared in illegal drugs after complying with all the imposed requirements.

P/ Sr. Inspector Joel Cabaddu, Labrador police chief, said the town’s Anti-Drug Advisory Council has complied with all the requirements, particularly clearing all the 10 drug-affected barangays and administering the rehabilitation program for the 128 self-confessed drug users and pushers that surrendered last year.

Cabaddu said the drug dependency examination and drug tests administered by the Municipal Health Unit revealed that out of the 128 users that surrendered, 54 were high risks and are presently confined as in patients at the Training and Rehabilitation Center of R1MC in Bonuan, Dagupan City; 48 were medium risks and are out patient in TRC.

There were six that were arrested and processed in court while only 5 (five) were low risks and have completed the community based rehabilitation program.

The rehab program included lectures on effects of illegal drugs, physical and health wellness, weekly community service and lectures on moral recovery every Sunday.

The Sangguniang Bayan had passed a resolution in support to the continuation of various activities for the rehab program of the rehabilitated drug personalities. (Nora Dominguez)
