SINAG to BOC: File cases vs. smugglers

By September 17, 2017Business, News

IT will take more than pictures to convince Samahan ng Industriyang Agrikultura (SINAG) that finally a serious campaign against smuggling of agricultural products is on.

This was the reaction of SINAG Chair Rosendo So to claims that more smuggled products are now being intercepted by the Bureaus of Customs.

So said he will only be convinced that the new Bureau of Customs Commissioner is sincere with it’s fight against smuggling if they will start filing cases against the smugglers.

He said, Lapena recently showed him a picture of the smuggled carrots, onions, rice and garlic recently intercepted by the BOC.

So added the new commissioner should start enforcing the anti-agricultural smuggling and economic sabotage law that recommends no bail to those charged.

SINAG said no one has been charged by the BOC notwithstanding the existing laws with implementing rules and regulation. (Nora Dominguez)
