TO prove that Pangasinan is not affected and remains free from bird flu virus, the broiler integrators with the help of the Office of the Provincial Veterinary and Provincial Government also staged a boodle fight for litson manok and boiled eggs.

Dr. Eric Jose Perez, provincial veterinarian said, the activity was held to assure consumers and households that it is safe to eat chicken meat and eggs and other poultry products.

He also assured the public that the quarantine inspections at the entry points along the boundaries of Pangasinan in Infanta, Mangatarem, Bayambang, Carmen, Bakitbakit Rosales, Sison and San Fabian will remain 24/7 to ensure that the province is safe from contamination from external sources.

More than 300 showed up to participate and enjoy their ‘boodle’ lunch with fried chicken and boiled egg supplied by the broiler integrators.

Michael Laranang of the North Luzon Poultry Growing Operations of San Miguel Food Corporation said, he’s optimistic that the publicity generated by the event will further increase awareness among consumers that it is completely safe to eat eggs and chicken meat at anytime.

He said, poultry raisers like them including backyard raisers are expecting to recover their losses during the ‘ber’ months, in preparation for the traditional holidays. (Nora Dominguez)
