Organic farming gains stakeholders here

LINGAYEN— Gov. Amado Espino III asked the region’s farmers to continue their strides towards organic agriculture in order to produce healthier food for the people.

He made the call before agriculture officials, entrepreneurs and farmers from Region 1 who participated in the four-day Regional Organic Agriculture Summit at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen starting Wednesday.

The theme of the congress organized by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 1, was ” Produktong Organiko: Kalusugan at Pag-Unlad ay Sigurado.”

Among the topics discussed by experts included ‘Diversified Organic Farming System,’ ‘From Waste to Farm Ways’, ‘Agape Land Best Organic Farming Practices’

and ‘Raising Organic Pig’.

A four-day Organic Trade Fair and Exhibit was held simultaneously held at the back of the Sison Auditorium displaying various agricultural products produced by farmers using organic farming technologies through indigenous materials as fertilizers.

The participants were also given farm tours at the Roheim Farm and Wellness Resort, Rosemarie’s Organic Garden and D’Green Earth, all in San Fabian; Teraoka Farm in Mangatarem and the PREC farm and station in Sual. (Leonardo Micua)
