Mapandan declared clear of drugs

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 1 led the declaration of drug clearing of the Municipality of Mapandan last August 30.

PDEA Assistant Regional Director, Lawyer Marvin Tavares signed the declaration together with Department of Interior and Local Government Regional Director James Fadrilan, Pangasinan PNP provincial director P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, Mapandan Mayor Gerald Glen Tambaoan and Mapandan Chief of Police P/Sr. Inspector Bernard Antolin.

Tavares said, prior to the declaration of the entire municipality of Mapandan, the 15 Barangays were declared cleared of illegal drugs.

There were 300 self – confessed drug personalities who surrendered, and all not only completed the community-based drug rehabilitation program and undergone TESDA training but passed the detoxification and drug test done by the Department of Health.

 

All 300 have been provided rolling stores for their livelihood by the Mapandan government.

Tavares said PDEA, PNP, the Church, Mapandan government, with the help of other participating agencies, will continue to support the intervention programs to ensure that the 300 will not return to their drug activities.

Meanwhile, PDEA said San Nicolas town may be declared clear of illegal drugs on September 5 or 6.

Tavares said, PDEA is ready to work with PNP Chief Superintendent, Region 3 Director, newly appointed Director-General of PDEA. (Nora Dominguez)
