A TOTAL of 546 classrooms costing seventy percent of the P400 million budget allocated in 2016 have been completed and delivered by the 2nd and 4th Engineering Districts in Pangasinan.

DPWH District Engineer Rodolfo Dion said the classrooms are already occupied by Junior and Senior High School students of the second and fourth districts.

While awaiting the release of the P700 million for the 2017 National Expenditure Program for additional classrooms, Dion said the projects were already bidded out and will soon be awarded to contractors, Dion said.

Those new school buildings, he said, most of which will be high rise (two to four storey buildings) are already undergoing soil testing.

The new classrooms will be built as earthquake resilient based on the new designs provided by the DPWH National Office and should adequately serve as evacuation centers in times of calamities. (Nora Dominguez)
