THE Dagupan City Public Library Tech4Ed Center has been adjudged as Outstanding Tech4Ed Center under the Emerging Center Category for 2017 during the 12th Knowledge Exchange Conference by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) held at Heritage Hotel in Manila on September 15.

A trophy and a plaque with one computer unit-laptop ASUS were awarded to the city through City Librarian Rufina S. Meneses, Tech4Ed Center Manager Corazon C. Langit, Tech4Ed Implementor Marilyn Caguioa, Librarians Maria Rosario and Rea Guieb and Ronnie Cornel.

The Technology for Economic Development (Tech4ED) program provides access to information technology that includes not only training but also educational materials for potential entrepreneurs on how to use the technology and even for farmers to improve their livelihood.

A part of the program is the free Wi-Fi to nine public schools under the “Juan, Konek!” campaign which will provide the students and teachers free access to internet for educational purposes.

Initially, nine public schools were provided with free Wi-Fi: Dagupan City National High School, Carael National High School, East Central Integrated School, Federico N. Ceralde Integrated School, Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Memorial National High School, Salapingao National High School, Pugaro Integrated School and Bonuan Boquig National High School.

However, the DICT in collaboration with the city extended its Tech4ED program to the 42 public elementary and high schools in the city on January 18 to help students in their studies.
