LINGAYEN– The popular Governor’s Cup Inter-Town Basketball Tournament is set to hold its second season on November 11, 2017.

Provincial Sports Development Management Council (PSDMC) Executive Officer Modesto Operania said the date was announced during the preparatory meeting held last week attended by coaches, municipal sports coordinators, and organizers to discuss the ground rules and guidelines for the cagefest.

Gov. Amado Espino III said he was inspired by the exceptional display of sportsmanship, discipline, respect, and camaraderie by the participants during the 1st Governor’s Cup Inter-town Basketball tournament that was staged from December 2016 to April this year.

Espino encouraged the participants to continue with the same attitude and values in the next tournament sponsored by the provincial government since it would not only serve their town’s honor but for their own.

Season 2 will again engage with ages 18-24 years old born December 31, 1999 to January 1, 1993.

Provincial Sports Coordinator Marlon Domalanta said 31 municipalities and three cities in the province have already confirmed their participation in the second season.

The governor also bared plans to enhance the live-streaming of the games, recalling how OFWs told him how much they enjoyed watching the games via live-streaming on the Internet through the official Facebook Page of the Province.

Espino also talked of plans to stage the Inter-Town Women’s Volleyball Tourney later this year or early next year. (PIO/KMJR)
