Majority set to ordinance seeking city hall transfer

BOOSTED by a legal opinion of the Department of Interior and Local Government, the majority bloc in the Sangguniang Panlungsod vowed to pass the ordinance seeking the transfer of the Dagupan City Hall from A. B. Fernandez Avenue to Barangay Pantal before the end of this month.

This after Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo, author of the draft ordinance, confirmed this to newsmen. No other landowner along the Pantal-Lucao road offered to donate a land in the last five weeks as an alternative to the 1.2-hectare land offered to the city by Kerwin Fernandez, brother of Mayor Belen Fernandez.

“That leaves only Mr. Kerwin Fernandez as the only donor,” Tamayo said.

On account of this development, he said the majority block is finalizing its committee report before submitting the draft ordinance for seconds reading.

He said the minority block too can submit the opposition aired during the six public consultations. (Leonardo Micua)
