Bugallon, San Carlos, Urdaneta Alaminos square off

LINGAYEN – – Basketball teams of  Bugallon, San Carlos, Urdaneta, Alaminos are assured of slots in the semifinals.

Bugallon and San Carlos City ended the quarterfinals with an identical card of six wins and one loss to take the top two spots for the semis and gained the twice-to-beat advantage over their two other rivals Urdaneta City and Alaminos City.

Contingents that won in basketball held on August 4: San Carlos City bumped off Alaminos City, 91-68; Bayambang whipped Mangaldan, 108-98.

Urdaneta City won over Pozorrubio, 107-65 while Bugallon led by Mayor Jumel Espino easily defeated Sta. Barbara 122-86 for a 36-point difference.

Bugallon which defeated San Carlos City, 91-86, in their June 30 encounter topped the eight-team quarterfinalists via win-over-the-other rule of the league and to face fourth placer Alaminos.  San Carlos tangles with third finisher Urdaneta both to be held at Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen on August 11 starting at 9:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, volleyball teams of Bayambang, Sta. Barbara, Alaminos City and San Nicolas toppled their respective rivals in the 1st Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.

Bayambang tied at 57 points with Rosales at the end of play but the former was declared winner because it won more sets.

Meanwhile, Sta. Barbara subdued Urdaneta City, 61-50; while Alaminos City defeated Sual, 75-45; and San Nicolas stopped Mangatarem, 75-49. (Jesus Garcia, Jr./ PIO)
