Baywalk will boost Lingayen, Binmaley economy

THE Baywalk project as a tourist destination will boost local economy of both Lingayen and Binmaley once it is completed next year.

This is the view of District Engineer Rodolfo Dion after Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil has recommended the conversion of the Baywalk project as Lingayen Eco-Tourism Park.

Dion said he welcomes the conversion of the Baywalk that started last 2013 and will be finished in 2018.

The Baywalk project, almost 7 kilometers long from the Limahong Channel in Barangay Maniboc up to San Isidro Norte in Binmaley, is still an unclassified road project and its reclassification will depend on the two municipal governments if it will be converted as coastal or national road, according to Dion.

Funding for the project is included in the National Expenditure Program for 2018.

Dion, however, expressed concern over the maintenance of the baywalk.

“Medyo magastos ang pagmaintain nyan, pag walang funding yan every year, masisira yan, hindi pwedeng pabayaan yan,” Dion said

He said, if the project will be defined as a tourism convergence area, it will automatically be funded by the Department of Tourism. (Nora Dominguez)
