Team Pangasinan tryouts completed

LINGAYEN – The tryouts for Batang Pinoy 2017-2018 Luzon Leg started July 21, 22, 23 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) in Lingayen.

Gov. Amado I. Espino III led the official opening of the Batang Pinoy provincial try-outs for the 17 sports for two age groups (15 and 13 years old) of athletes events on July 22.

According to Provincial Sports Development and Management Council Executive Officer Modesto Operania, the formation of the team started with a solidarity meeting among technical officials, sports coordinators, and tour managers last Friday, July 21.

PSDMC Sports Coordinator Marlon Domalanta said the grassroots-based sports undertaking by the Philippine Sports Commission aims to widen the base in the selection of potential athletes for national and international sports competitions.

Athletes were required to bring their Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issued birth certificates or certified true copy birth certificates issued by the Local Civil Registry, their medical certificate duly signed by a registered medical doctor, endorsement letter from their municipal mayor (for athletes not lined up as representative from any DepEd Schools Division) for registration.

Tryouts were held for archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, karatedo, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wresting and wu shu. (PIO/KMJR)
